The Missouri Department of Transportation says Route E in Newton County will close during daytime hours Oct. 19-21 as crews replace damaged pipes beneath the road. The closure will affect the stretch between Route J and Old Ritchey Road, north of Granby, according to the department.

MoDOT says crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, with all lanes closed where work is underway. The lanes will be open at night, the announcement says.

Drivers will be able to reach driveways and entrances at either end of the work zones but will not be able to travel through them, MoDOT says. The department says there will be no signed detours and advises drivers to use alternate routes. Signs and message boards will alert approaching drivers.

Weather or scheduling conflicts could change the work schedule, according to MoDOT. The department says road-closure and traffic-impact information is available on its Traveler Information Map. For more information, call the MoDOT office in Springfield at 417-895-7600 or visit modot.org/southwest.
