The University of Central Missouri Athletics department said its No. 20-ranked Jennies soccer team will visit Missouri Southern for its final regular-season match Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Hal Bodon Field in Joplin. UCM listed the Jennies at 12-1-4 overall and 7-0-4 in the MIAA, while Missouri Southern was 4-8-4 overall and 3-5-3 in conference play.
UCM said the Jennies entered the match third in the MIAA standings with 25 points. The university said Central Missouri could claim the regular-season conference title with a win in Joplin and a Washburn loss or tie at Newman on Wednesday; a Washburn win would give Washburn the title.
The announcement said UCM had drawn its previous two matches, 0-0 against No. 24 Washburn on Oct. 23 and 1-1 against No. 7 Pittsburg State on Oct. 25. It reported the Jennies had scored 38 goals and allowed five through 17 matches.
UCM said the Jennies were No. 20 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II poll and No. 4 in the NCAA Division II Central Region rankings. The university said the top eight teams in the final regional rankings, scheduled for release Nov. 9, would advance to the NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament.
