Pittsburg State University Athletics says the Gorillas will play Missouri Southern State University in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association football game Saturday, Oct. 31, at Fred G. Hughes Stadium in Joplin. Kickoff is scheduled for noon Central Daylight Time, according to the announcement.
Pitt State enters the game 3-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play, the university said. The Gorillas beat Central Oklahoma 52-14 on Oct. 24 and Missouri Western 45-42 on Oct. 17, according to the announcement. Missouri Southern is 2-6 overall and 1-5 in MIAA play; the Lions beat Missouri Western 38-14 on Oct. 24, snapping a five-game losing streak, the university said.
The matchup will be the 58th between the schools, and Pitt State leads the series 47-9-1, according to the university. The Gorillas won last year’s meeting 30-10 on Nov. 1, the announcement said.
